Care Buddy (Mental Health Befriending)

Overview

Care Buddy is a Mental Health Befriending programme at Filos. As a Care Buddy volunteer, you will foster friendship for clients 18 years old and above; vulnerable to, and/or diagnosed with mental health conditions.

Your Impact:

  • Increase social connectedness of beneficiary which improves physical and mental wellbeing that serves as a form of protective factor
  • Increase social support for clients through befriending and creation of social circle(s)
  • Increase client's reintegration in the community and overall quality of life

Care Buddy

Overview

Role Description: 
- Foster friendship for clients 18 years old and above; vulnerable to, and/or diagnosed with mental health conditions. 
- Monitor client's health status and needs. Inform Filos of client's social needs so we may link them to services 
- Provide relevant updates to staff on client's progress through monthly reports.

Role Requirements: 
- Min 21 years old and above 
- Able to commit monthly, min 6 months 
- Passionate about impacting lives 
- No prior experience needed as training will be provided 
- Ability to speak dialects is a plus point (if preference is to befriend seniors)
